Despite the release of Bullguard 9.0, the problem with Homegroup and Windows sharing is still not resolved. I wrote in to ask about the status and was confirmed by them via the following reply:

It seems that Bullguard will still take a while to get their firewall fixed so that Windows 7 users will be able to share files.
